Galax VA is situated on the Grayson County and Carroll County border. Being in such a central location in our Twin County area, it has the highest concentration of activities and events in our region. The "World's Oldest" Old-Time Fiddler's Convention, arts and crafts fairs, live theatrical performances, and many other festivals and events are held here. It is also home to a multitude of galleries,antique, and crafts shops.
Grayson County VA and Carroll County VA each have their own good measure of craft & antique shops, music jam sessions and fiddler's conventions, and other festivals throughout the year, too. Among these are the "Mountain Foliage Festival and Grand Privy Race" in Independence VA, several arts, crafts, & music festivals near Whitetop VA, and the Carroll County Fair and Annual Labor Day Gun Show and Flea Market in Hillsville VA.
