Crooked Creek WMA (Fee Fishing) : Rt. 620  Woodlawn VA   Phone: (276) 236-6391 - Fee fishing area stocked with trout several times weekly. Daily permit required in addition to valid freshwater fishing license.

Hale Lake :
Near Comers Rock Campground on FR 57 approx. 6 miles from Elk Creek, VA. U. S. Forest Service, Mount Rogers National Recreation Area. Valid freshwater fishing license & trout license required.

Lovill's Creek Lake : 943 Speas Mill Rd.  Cana VA  From US52 south of Fancy Gap, take Route 687 to Route 686. - Largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish, crappie, and suckers. See website for details.

Matthew's Carrollwood Campground and Fish Lake : 86 Carrollwood Dr. Woodlawn VA   Phone: (276) 728-9312 - Camping, playground, bath, showers, 2 fish lakes stocked full of carp, catfish, bluegill, pike, bass, and many more. Catch & release only.

Stewart's Creek WMA : State Route 795  Lambsburg, Va - Native brook trout managed under a no-harvest regulation and all fish must be immediately released back to the stream. See website for details.

Several other streams in Grayson and Carroll counties are stocked with trout by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. These other streams include :
Grayson County : Big Wilson Creek, Fox Creek, Middle Fox Creek, Elk Creek, and Helton Creek.
Carroll County : Crooked Creek, Laurel Fork Creek, Little Reed Island Creek, and Chestnut Creek.
The New River has some of the best smallmouth bass and muskie fishing in the state. Also abundant are catfish, crappie, bluegills, redeyes, and in some locations, largemouth bass.
Valid freshwater license required to fish New River.
