Comers Rock Campground ( Mt. Rogers Nat'l Rec Area ): Off US 21 at Grayson / Wythe County line on FS 57. 4 tent only sites, 3 sites accomodate RVs to 24 feet. No facilities or hookups. Vault toilets, Hand pump for water. 2 miles from Hales Lake.
Creeper Trail Campground : 2248 Whitetop Gap Rd. Whitetop VA Phone: (276) 388-3426 - Tent and RV camping with hookups, bath house with hot showers, restaurant, bike rental, camp store, and stables, hay, hitching posts for horses.
Fries New River Trail RV Park : 26 Dalton Rd. Fries VA 24330 Phone: (276) 233-1178 - 12 gravelled sites, all with 20 amp, 30 amp, and 50 amp electric service, sewer and water hookups, cable TV, WiFi, bath house, and pets allowed. Pop-ups to the largest RVs accomodated. (Sorry, no tent sites provided.)
Grayson Highlands State Park : Off US 58 between Volney VA and Whitetop VA.Phone: (800) 933-PARK for reservations. 98 total sites - some with water & electric hookups, some without. Equipment to 40 feet in length. Stable area with 67 stalls for horses.
Houndshell Campground : 12749 Flatridge Rd. Troutdale VA 24378 Phone: (276)655-4639 - Water, electric, sewer hookups. 4 miles up Flatridge Rd. from Sugar Grove end.
Iron Mountain Horse Camp / Trail Riders Tack & Supply : 4449 Arrowhead Dr. Ivanhoe VA. 24350 Phone: (276) 744-2056 - Primitive sites and graveled sites with water & electric hookups available. Bath house and dump station. Dogs are welcome. Saddles, tack, trail supplies, grooming, clothing & helmets.
New River Campground and Canoe : 3745 New River Parkway Independence VA 24348 Phone: (276) 773-3412 - Tent sites, RV sites with water & electric, camping cabins, efficiency apartments, bath houses, canoe tentals.
River Views Campground : 450 Sarasota lane Galax VA 24333 Phone: (276) 237-5007, (276) 233-7416, or (276) 236-9362. Just outside of Galax on the New River, primitive tent camping to accomodations for large RVs is offered. Cabin and renovated farmhouse rental also available.
Rocky Hollow Horse Camp : 3382 Rocky Holloow Rd. Troutdale VA 24378 Phone: (888) 644-0014 or (276) 677-3900 - Mount Rogers National Recreation Area Trails just minutes from fully equipped horse camp. Sites with water and electric hookups.

New River Trail State Park : Cliffview Campground - 1 mile west of Cliffview Ranger Station on trail. Galax VA Phone: (276) 236-8999 - 10 tent sites, 3 horseback campsites (ride in), one elevated handicapped site. Primitive camping, drinking water, pit toilet, firewood, bike racks, horse stalls.
New River National Forest Campground : Off Rt. 94 between Fries and Ivanhoe, between Byllesby Dam and Buck Dam. 16 sites with no hookups. Some sites will accomodate small to medium size RVs. Honor system, reservations not required.
